All is golden: senior club gatherings return to City Hall Square
Adi Way Editorial TeamPublished:

Tel Aviv Municipality is known for investing heavily in its older residents. Now, as the new Hebrew year begins, the "Golden Tuesday" club is resuming activities. The Golden Tuesday club is open to the city's older residents. Activities take place in the City Hall lobby at 69 Ibn Gabirol Street, between 16:00 and 19:30.
Those attending can enjoy a variety of activities, including games such as checkers, chess, bridge, cards, Rummikub, and more. Alongside the games, anyone who would rather move than sit can join the dance classes held at the venue. Each gathering begins with arrivals, some mingling, and refreshments, followed by the activities: games first, then dancing.
Refreshments include an area with hot drinks and light snacks. Club activities are intended only for Tel Aviv-Yafo residents. Admission is free, without advance registration, but requires presentation of identification and a Green Pass, Israel's COVID-era health certificate.
Activities will not take place during the Tishrei holidays (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot). Pay attention to the dates and check municipal announcements on the municipality's website or city app. The venue has accessibility provisions.
Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality invests in its older residents
Golden Tuesday club events join dozens of other clubs, centers, and changing, varied activities for Tel Aviv-Yafo's older residents. The municipality has changed its approach to aging, recognizing that life expectancy is increasing and bringing a relatively new phenomenon: people formally defined as "old" who feel and live like younger people. The meaning of "young" has changed completely, and today people over 65 also want exciting, enjoyable lives filled with experiences. Older adults' satisfaction with their quality of life depends on several factors, including meaningful leisure and work activities, mobility and getting around, and meaningful relationships that address loneliness.
To conclude: growing older is easier in Tel Aviv-Yafo
The municipality's various programs and activities for older residents are intended to meet these needs and more. They focus on increasing social meetings and relationships, encouraging employment, making various services accessible to families, communities, and individuals, and integration and partnerships involving the state, municipality, health services, nonprofit organizations, youth movements, private initiatives, and others. All aim to give the city's older residents the best possible sense of support around them. The initiatives and programs run throughout the city, across all neighborhoods and sectors, allowing anyone who wishes to take part to do so. For details of the various programs, activities, and city clubs, visit the municipality's website or city app.
